Before you submit
Suggested article length is approximately 600–1,500 words. Detailed guides, photo essays and field notes may use a different format.
We welcome content that is:
- Original and created by you
- Based on real outdoor experience
- Useful, specific and clearly written
- Accurate to the best of your knowledge
- Respectful of public lands and local communities
- Accompanied by authorized photos or videos
- Transparent about sponsorships and gifted products
- Supported by official sources when discussing regulations
Please do not submit:
- Copied or lightly rewritten articles
- Fully AI-generated stories
- Backlink-only guest posts
- Undisclosed advertising
- Misleading or untested product reviews
- Illegal camping or trespassing instructions
- Private-property access information
- Exact locations of fragile or sensitive sites

Do I need professional writing experience?
No. CIWILD welcomes experienced writers and first-time contributors. Firsthand experience, useful information and a clear personal perspective matter more than previous publishing credits.
Can I submit an idea before writing the full article?
Yes. A short pitch is welcome and is often preferred for detailed destination guides, overlanding routes, gear stories and longer features.
Does CIWILD pay contributors?
Contributor arrangements are currently considered individually. Selected assignments or partnerships may include payment, product support or another agreed form of collaboration. Any terms will be confirmed before the relevant work begins.
Can I submit photographs or video without an article?
Yes. CIWILD welcomes photo essays, visual field notes, short films and outdoor video concepts when they tell a clear and useful story.
Can I submit a product review?
Yes, provided the review is based on genuine use. Gifted products, sponsorships, affiliate relationships and other brand connections must be clearly disclosed.
Will every submission be published?
No. Submissions are reviewed for originality, quality, accuracy, timing and relevance to the CIWILD community.
Can brands submit guest posts?
The contributor program is intended for authentic, experience-based outdoor content. Brands seeking promotional placements or commercial partnerships should contact CIWILD separately.
Can I use AI to help prepare my article?
AI-assisted editing or organization may be acceptable, but fully AI-generated stories are not accepted. The experience, knowledge, photographs and final perspective must genuinely belong to the contributor.
