Why this matters
A good route helps someone understand the trip before they start it.
A route is more than coordinates. It is the road surface you encountered, the vehicle you used, the season you traveled, the services you could reach and the lesson you learned when the plan changed.
CIWILD is building a more useful route library from firsthand experience. Your trip can help another person prepare carefully, travel responsibly and make better decisions outdoors.
What to submit
A useful route is more than a pin on a map.
We are looking for a complete, firsthand trip record that gives another traveler enough context to prepare responsibly.
Trip date and route overview
Include the start, major stops, endpoint, trip length and a clear summary of how the journey unfolded.
Vehicle and road conditions
Describe the vehicle used, surface conditions, clearance needs and any sections that may require additional caution.
Camping and land information
Share the land manager, permit or fee details, camping type and any restrictions you encountered.
Fuel, water and signal
Help others understand where to resupply, what connectivity to expect and how far services may be.
Original trip photographs
Provide at least five original images showing roads, camp conditions, practical details and the real character of the trip.
One honest lesson
Tell us what surprised you, what you would change or what another traveler should know before going.

A view-only map, GPX file or route folder can help our team review the submission more accurately.

Do I need to be a professional writer?
No. Clear firsthand experience and useful details matter more than polished writing. CIWILD may edit selected work for structure, grammar, clarity and consistency before publication.
Do I need a large social media following?
No. Audience size is not a requirement. We look for real experience, original material, practical value and responsible outdoor practices.
Will every submission be published?
No. Submissions are reviewed for completeness, originality, accuracy, safety, practical value and fit with current CIWILD projects. We may contact you for more information before making a decision.
Will I be paid?
Some selected projects may include a contributor reward or paid assignment. Others may offer publication credit, profile exposure or consideration for future work. Any payment or reward will be confirmed before publication or commissioning.
Who owns my content?
You retain ownership of your original work. If your submission is selected, publishing, editing, promotional use and any payment terms will be confirmed before publication. Third-party commercial reuse requires a separate agreement.
Can I submit a route found on another website?
No. Official sources may be used to verify regulations, permits and current public information, but the route observations, trip experience and submitted photographs must come from your own firsthand trip.
